In order to get your Colorado real estate license, you must first pass the real estate exam. The Real Estate Commission has designed the exam in a way that “a minimally competent candidate” should be able to pass. Based on this standard, an average student should be able to pass the Colorado real estate exam with the proper preparation.
To be properly prepared for the exam, you need to be serious in your studies. This will enable you to demonstrate the specialized knowledge of how to conduct real estate transactions. The short version is you can’t fake this one. Although most students do pass the exam on their first attempt, it is not uncommon for some to have to take the exam more than once. The good news is that there’s no reason to get discouraged. The cost of another try is additional study time and approximately $42 for the test fee. That’s it.
While most Colorado Real Estate School students pass on their first attempt, over 95% of our students who must take the exam more than once also pass. Most importantly, it doesn’t matter whether you pass on your first try or your fifth try. The real estate exam is just a requirement to get your license and begin your new career. Once you’ve passed the real estate exam and become a real estate agent, no one will care how many attempts it took you to pass the exam.
There is no limit to the number of times you can take the Colorado real estate exam, and you only need to retake the specific portions you failed. So if you passed the national law section and failed the Colorado law section, you will only need to retake the Colorado section to get your license. However, passing scores are only valid for one year so if you only pass one section, you must pass the other portion within a year, or you’ll have to retake both sections.
Most students look to their real estate school to help them. It’s important to understand that the level of instructor support amongst real estate schools varies greatly. Providing instructor assistance to a student after failing the licensing exam or allowing them access to review course materials and study tools is not guaranteed. Therefore, it’s always a good idea to find out the level of support a real estate school provides to students who don’t pass the exam before enrolling in their course.
At Colorado Real Estate School, our online real estate courses, prep tools and instructor support system are designed to help you pass the exam on your first attempt and if you do not, we will continue to support you until you pass, at no additional cost. We call this promise our TruSupport Pass Guarantee™. We only require you to have completed our course, taken the exam and be willing to work with us to achieve a passing grade.
If you do not pass, we’ll have you send us a copy of your exam result. One of our instructors analyzes the result to create a personalized study plan focusing your attention on areas you need to strengthen. We provide you with access to our course materials and exam prep tools, and we give you additional instructor assistance. You follow the customized study plan and retake the exam in a couple of weeks while the information is fresh.
Generally, this is all you will need to pass, but if not, we “rinse and repeat.” Again, all at no additional cost. We will stay in your corner as long as you put in the work to pass.
At Colorado Real Estate School, we don’t believe that “online” education means “alone” education. Most students have questions or potentially need help on a topic. You can get the help you need in many ways.
All our students can get support via email. We are great at answering our emails and provide a response on the same day or no later than the next business day. Want more? We also offer optional support via phone, or by attending any of our LIVE online webinars.
We offer two weekly and one monthly LIVE webinars.
On Tuesdays, our one-hour “Dana to the Rescue” webinar selects a topic that is challenging our students. Our online real estate courses are excellent, but sometimes you just need a different perspective to wrap your head around a tough topic. In this exclusive, innovative webinar, your instructor gives you an alternate view of the subject and answers any questions you have. This helps turn a challenging topic into a mastered one.
Can’t attend? This webinar is recorded for viewing at your convenience.
On Thursdays, we have instructor office hours. We call it our “Weekly Q&A Meetup.” For one hour every week, one of our experienced instructors is available via webinar to answer any questions you may have on any course topic. You do not need an appointment. You can pop in, ask your question, and pop out. You can also hang out to listen to the answers to other students’ questions. It’s your choice.
On the second Saturday of every month, we conduct a live all-day prep webinar for the exam called “The Exam Cram Webinar.” This intensive webinar is designed for students who have completed a significant portion of the licensing course and would benefit from spending a day with an engaging instructor, preparing for the licensing exam.
The exam tests you on practicing real estate in Colorado. Not every state is the same. Overwhelmingly, online real estate schools in Colorado are owned by out-of-state companies. Our school, the largest of its kind in Colorado, is based in Colorado.
Our courses are developed, and our support is provided, by licensed Colorado brokers. They passed the exam to get their license. Their insight into the exam is invaluable to passing. In addition, they have the ability not just to teach Colorado real estate law, but to also relate it to practicing as a Colorado real estate broker. This is an important benefit for a new broker just starting out.
We have worked hard to build the most comprehensive suite of exam preparation tools anywhere. It features instructional aids including:
