How To Get Your License

Colorado Real Estate License School

Obtaining your Colorado real estate license is not complex. One key difference between Colorado and other States – Colorado is a single license state. This means we do not have a Salesperson or Broker license as is common in many states. In Colorado, every newly-licensed real estate agent is an Associate Broker. This is a one-size-fits-all license that enables you to conduct any real estate transaction.

Here are the 5 steps to your Colorado real estate license:

If you never had a real estate license, you must complete an approved Colorado real estate licensing course, then pass the state licensing exam.

If you have an inactive or expired Colorado real estate license or a license from another state, you may or may not have an educational requirement. Jump to educational and testing requirements.

After completing the educational requirement, all Colorado real estate license candidates must pass the state licensing exam.

If you have never held a real estate state license, have an expired Colorado license, or held a license for less than two years in another jurisdiction, you must take the complete exam covering National law and Colorado law.

For people with a current license from out of state with two or more years’ experience, it is only necessary to pass the Colorado side.

PSI is a third party that proctors the Colorado real estate exam. It may be taken in person at one of their testing centers located throughout the state or remotely at home. Select the link below for more information or to register for the exam.

Before applying for a license, candidates must join a real estate brokerage.

Many brokerages are looking for new agents. Finding an employing broker is the exact opposite of looking for a job: you interview the broker, not the other way around.  Read important information on finding a job as a real estate agent.

We have provided a link to a free website that lists services and options of brokerage companies looking for agents.
