A Big, Flexible and Accommodating Industry

Chapter 1 – Is Real Estate Right for Me?

Before jumping into your new career, it’s important to evaluate whether real estate is right for you. You need to understand the advantages and drawbacks of working as a real estate agent, since the way you value these items will play a major role in whether you’ll be happy in this job. But you also need to consider the characteristics and traits that make someone successful in real estate. The more of these traits that you possess, the greater the likelihood that you’ll thrive in this competitive industry.

Chapter 2 – Understanding How Real Estate Income Works

To know your income potential, it’s important to first understand how real estate agents make money. Real estate agents typically don’t earn a base salary. Instead, they receive a commission on each sale they broker for a client. This commission is usually a percentage of the sale price of the property.

Since your income is commission based, the more deals you close, the greater your earning potential. In addition, your commission will be greater when you help broker the sale of a higher value property than with a lower value property.

Chapter 3 – Getting Your Real Estate License

The good news is that obtaining your Colorado real estate license is not complex. One key difference between Colorado and other states is that Colorado is a single license state. This means we do not have a salesperson or broker license, as is common in many states. In Colorado, every newly licensed real estate agent is an associate broker. This is a one-size-fits-all license that enables you to conduct any real estate transaction.

Chapter 4 – Getting Hired as an Agent

Now that you’ve gotten your real estate license, it’s time to start working in your new career. One of the first challenges you’ll face as a new agent is getting hired. There are two components to this process, and both are equally important to your success as a real estate agent

Chapter 5 – Common Mistakes and Pitfalls to Avoid as a New Real Estate Agent

Starting your new career in real estate is an exciting time. You’re entering an industry that provides great flexibility and work-life balance, while also giving you an opportunity to earn a lucrative income. But working in real estate is different than working in many other industries because you are starting your own business instead of getting hired to work for someone else’s company. This places a lot more responsibility on you to set yourself up for success.

Chapter 6 – Seven Critical Keys to Success in Real Estate

In this chapter, we’d like to dig a little deeper and highlight a few of the critical keys to achieving success in real estate. Building a real estate business requires patience, dedication and hard work. But success is also extremely attainable if you’re willing to build the proper foundation during your first couple of years in the business. Many people just like you have found that transitioning to a career in real estate has been highly lucrative, allowing them to maintain their desired lifestyle and improve their work-life balance.

Chapter 7 – Real Estate Agent Career Statistics

In our final chapter, we’d like to provide you with some statistics that will give you additional context into the industry. The information in this chapter comes from the National Association of Realtors (NAR). As the largest real estate trade association in the nation, they are an incredibly valuable resource for real estate agents at all stages of their career. The NAR works to help real estate professionals build their expertise, improve their understanding of market insights and gain a competitive advantage that helps position themselves as a top real estate professional in their market.
